Treatments

We offer range of treatments from routine podiatry to surgical interventions.

Routine Podiatry covers a range of lower limb problems that can be treated in a 40 minute appointment. If a patient needs more specialist intervention or time set aside for more specific treatment then this will be booked after their initial consultation. This may include biomechanical assessments and Verruca Swift treatment. Below are some of the treatments the we would class as routine podiatry:

  • Toenail care
  • Corns & callus
  • Athletes foot
  • Fungal toenail treatment
  • Bunions
  • Sprains, strains and arthritic problems
  • Heel pain and plantar fasciitis
(May require a further biomechanical assesment)

Ingrown toenails are one of the most common conditions treated at Earlsgate Podiatry Practice. Often a patient will tolerate a troublesome nail for years, attempting to treat it and cut it back themselves. If you are tired of this constant affliction then we are able to help you. We often treat children at the clinic for surgery, generally over the age of 8.

We offer an all-inclusive, competitively priced package for toe nail removal. You may only need a partial removal of the nail or, after consultation, you may decide to have the nail completely removed. After the initial consultation, the surgery and two follow-up appointments are included in the package.

We will aim to provide you with the surgery within one to two weeks from your initial consultation. The procedure is quick with no incisions to the surrounding delicate skin. A small amount of anaesthetic will be applied to your toe and once the nail is removed a chemical, called phenol, is applied to the nail bed to prevent re-growth of the problematic portion of nail.

We allow an hour for the complete procedure. This helps you to feel at ease and comfortable with the surgery, and enables the podiatrists to complete any necessary paper work with you.

We ask that someone accompany you on the day of surgery. You are advised not to drive for up to two hours after the anaesthetic. It may invalidate your car insurance if you do not heed this advice.

You must also bring some sandals or flip-flops with you, as you will have a large bandage on your toe when leaving the clinic. Normal footwear will not be able to accommodate this.

Diabetic foot screening in an annual requirement for all diabetics. At Earlsgate Podiatry we offer the screening as part of your routine Podiatric treatment. If required we can send a copy of the results to your Doctor for their records.

Diabetic foot assessment is an important preventative action you can take control of, as part of your gerneal diabetic care.

  • Vascular assessment of the foot
  • Neurological assessment of the foot
  • Literature provision
  • Footwear advice and contacts
  • Referrals if necessary

At Earlsgate Podiatry we pride ourselves on offering preventative care for our patients. One of the most important aspects of this is health education. We will of course offer chair side health education in the form of verbal advice, written advice, contacts to organisations for support or other colleagues details that may assist with management. Involvement with local schools and charities is also hugely enjoyable. Children find it fun to learn about foot facts and look at the gadgets we bring with us. Over the years we have visited a fair few women's institutes and retirement groups. The feedback we receive on these talks is positive and helps us engage with problems people are dealing with, that may not have sought advice from a health professional.

If you would like to book Earlsgate Podiatry to talk at any of the venues mentioned, do please email for further details.info@earlsgatepodiatry.co.uk

An MSK (Musculo-Skeletal) Specialist Podiatrist is trained to assess the presenting problem the patient is experiencing and work out which structures are affected as well as the cause of the problem. A biomechanical assessment involves taking a thorough history and a physical examination, including observation of gait. From this, a treatment plan can be formulated and will include advice on footwear, lifestyle, along with therapeutic exercises. Sometimes insoles or orthoses are required to maintain or optimise better foot function. Solutions are based on a holistic approach and are individual to the problem and the patient.

The majority of Nicola's 30 years working within the NHS environment was spent in this field as MSK Clinical Lead, practising alongside colleagues from other disciplines such as physiotherapy, orthopaedics, orthotists and the chronic pain team. Nicola was also a clinical educator involved in teaching and mentoring colleagues and university students throughout her career.

Nicola has a particular interest and expertise in the treatment of hypermobility / EDS and associated syndromes.

  • I saw Natasha today for my regular check up and chat about my feet and left with a spring in my step - literally! She has helped me enormously, not only providing a high standard of care for my feet, but also listening to my concerns about arthritis in my toes. Natasha has offered practical advice on what type of footwear I should use and how compression socks could help with my condition. She also gave me a discount voucher for the shoe shop. The result is I now have comfortable and supportive footwear and socks which have reduced the discomfort in my feet by over 80%. Without Natasha's understanding approach, continuing care and sound advice I would still be in severe pain in my feet. DT - via Google
  • Phoned Natasha to make an appointment for my other half as he had been in pain for a year, she managed to book him in for the day after, when he went he said Natasha was very professional and polite, considering he isn't the type to speak about his problems, she knew exactly what to do and he has woken up the next day after the appointment in so much less pain, couldn't thank her another for her help, we will be returning for any other problems.
